Using F1 and aerospace technology to optimise efficiency

In order to drive efficiency into our Team Great Britain Atlantic Challenger we needed to deploy technologies such as computational fluid dynamics (cfd) and finite element analysis(fea). The former is used to shape the hulls in a computerised single and twin fluid environment; basically modelling the lift and drag characteristics of the vessel to make her more efficiet and saving 1000s of hours of model testing. Finite element analysis is used to assist the design of the structure in order to maxmise the strengths and minimise weight thus making her ever more efficient.
